Hidden Lakes Community Association
Hi Neighbors,
I apologize this communication is coming a week after the annual meeting.  In all honesty, I needed a mental break and time with my family at night as the preparation for this year's meeting was pretty intense, but totally worth it.  I promised that this year communication would improve and I stick to my word on that.  With our finances now being outsourced, the time is right to invest more in the things you can't put a price on and that is the value of sharing knowledge, communicating updates and doing everything we can within reason to continue to bring together ideas and solutions.  Attached is a copy of the powerpoint that was used as a guide for the meeting, for anyone that may have missed the meeting and would like to see the content, or for anyone that was there and would like to view again for content.
The annual meeting this year went very well, and the proposed budget was approved (totals- 46 approve, 5 oppose).  We will now have monthly financial statements to share out that will come from Elite and I am very excited to be able to closely manage this with Elite, instead of the management of it being done by volunteers.  We can do everything possible to do the financial work, but there is no denying that when it is volunteer and there are other obligations that are also on our plate, it just cannot get 100% focus.  I shared at the meeting that we understand why there is a lack of volunteers and I stand firm on that.  Its a lot of work and with careers and families, the time is hard to balance.  Many current residents have either served their time, or don't have the time.  And that is okay (well... just keep in mind Mike and Nico's terms are up next year and then I will need help if I cant bribe them to stay ;) ).  We will try the outsourcing this year and see how things go.  It may not be the permanent solution, but it is what we need for the time being.   One last update from the meeting- I shared at the beginning that my term was listed incorrectly on the notice.  Long story short, I needed to be re-elected this year.  I was elected in for another 3 year term and this will be reflected in the meeting minutes.
There are a few questions that arose at the meeting regarding the financials from 2018-2019 as well as auditing for the year.  I have not forgotten about this and it will be worked on.  My focus since the meeting has been to get Elite everything they need with accurate data so that they can jump in to get this year going, which will open up time to allow us to look at last year.  I was pleasantly surprised to see their letter come today with the invoice and see that the approach we took was worth it.  I felt relief :)
I have already seen a rise in volunteers and willingness to help where needed.  I cant thank those enough for their support and words of encouragement.  Our neighborhood is amazing and I will continue to showcase the good, because as a society I don't believe we do that enough!  Special thanks to Joe Schaub and Linda Lamp for the work they put in with us in advance of the meeting to help it run smoothly.  It was truly a team effort.
A few reminders:
-April 20th is the Easter Egg Hunt.  Right now we have 13 kids signed up.  If you have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends etc that want to participate please let me know.  All are welcome!
-If you have requests on information to be submitted for the Gazette, send them my way.  I want to share what you want to hear.  Quite frankly, having requests and recommendations helps me get them done faster since I am not starting from scratch or assuming (and then over thinking) what people may want to see or hear.  Do you have a business that you'd like for me to add?  See anything that your neighbors should be aware of?  Any pictures of your yard or big catches on the lakes?  Send my way!
-I have seen and also heard that there are a few vehicles still traveling at unsafe speeds down Hidden Lakes Drive.  I also witnessed this on Lakeview Lane and obnoxiously yelled to try to get them to slow down (not my best moment!).  Please Please Please be mindful of your speed and also ask anyone that is visiting your home to be careful.  With the corners we have and residents who are constantly out and about, I fear the day this speed and carelessness becomes tragic.  We have the opportunity now to control it.  I am going to refrain from continuing to ask to watch out for our children because the reality is it can be anyone.  We have to look out for one another and this is not safe.
-Our park is going to look beautiful after this season and the lakes will be more accessible for residents that live off the lakes.  Keep an eye out for updates and progress.
- We had a generous $200 donation come in after the meeting from a neighbor who would like to purchase some of the supplies for the park.  We will keep the donor anonymous, but so appreciate this kind gesture.  Thank you.
At the meeting, a request was made to receive a copy of Elite's privacy policy in regards to online payments.  I asked for this and was informed that they do not have one due to online payments going directly through the bank and not to Elite.  Therefore, when you submit the online payment the bank is in immediate receipt of the payment and it never travels through Elite.  Hopefully this helps!
Thank you all.  I am so grateful for the amount of people who have reached out, shared feedback on the meeting and have been so supportive.  Whether you have said it, shown it, or just thought it, we feel it and it is energizing to have these unsolicited reminders that our community is a place to be proud of.
